Watch what you say....

So here lately the kids have really been keeping me entertained with some of the things they have been saying.  Here are some of the more entertaining things:

-We were driving through a part of town that the kids 'Godmother Katie used to live in so I said "this is the neighborhood that Katie used to live in." Rykin then repeated, "Katie used to live in the hood?"
-Travis has been growing his winter beard, and told the kids that he won't shave until after calves are born in Februrary/March.  Rykin has been telling us "Daddy isn't going to cut his 'sugars' until baby calves are born." (He halls Travis's whiskers 'sugars' because Travis's mom has a cat named Sugar...who has whiskers)
-Jayden sings Miranda Lambert's song "Fastest Girl in Town" that's main course is "Ain't your baby!" Instead Jayden says "Hate your baby!"

Well, these cute little moments are obviously adorable, and entertaining, and definitely noted in their baby books, but after reading an article it got me thinking about how simple they see life and how I don't need to be so quick to correct their perceptions of things the hear and see!

I recently read an article about kids and friendships they build. The thing in the article that struck me the most was where a child psychologist said, the most important thing was to ensure parents were setting an example of friendship by showing respect to your child's point of view (a key function of friendship), this struck me because honestly I ofter feel like I am so involved in "teaching" my kids things, I don't just slow down and listen to their perspective.  So after reading this article, and thinking back on the way my kids so innocently view things I made a new vow to myself to pay better attention to these things, respect them, discuss and move on.  I love little "ah-ha'' moments like this that make me think about my natural tendencies and yet seem so common sense in the big picture.

Nearly Three Years Ago..

Three years ago tomorrow, Travis and I went to the hospital knowing we would be coming home with a beautiful little boy to add to our family!  Fast forward nearly three years and we have Rykin Robert-Max Kraus.  He is beautiful, but he is also lively, funny, wild, charasmatic, and loveable beyond words!  So since our little guys birthday falls on Black Friday this year (and I intend to not leave the house), I took the day off so we could do something fun!  Rykin chose to go the zoo and park!  It was  perfect day for it too!  70 degrees in November!!  Say WHAT???  Yep, and we took full advantage!  Here are some pictures below!  We had a great day celebrating the best little three year old man there is :)

LETS GET STARTED!!

Well, here we go!  After, many years of talking about doing this I finally AM doing it!  I am excited too!  I've wanted to write a blog for quite some time, to chronicle the family Travis and I began nearly seven years ago.  Though, at that time I was a mere 22 years old, and now I am pushing 30 :/  YIKES!!!  Anyway, so now many of my interests in blogging have changed.  I do still intend to blog about our family, the kids, etc.  However, I also plan to write about topics I have any opinion on or headline news topics from time to time, fitness, TV, and maybe many other topics.

Obviously, I Facebook and I love Facebook, but the truth is there are to many people that use Facebook as a platform to show-case hot topics, controversies, pictures, families and more.  I have been guilty of this a time to two also (especially with talking about the kiddos).  Frankly, some people on Facebook like to be able to keep up with people for different reasons and keep some outlying networks going, but they don't want all the other detail.  I understand that, so most of the time I try to keep that in consideration and not over do it on any details.  I can't say, I will do that here.  The bottom line is if you want to follow the blog, I hope you do and I hope you enjoy it.  If not, that is ok to ;)  I'm going to try to have fun with this and keep it light hearted.  After tonight I plan to officially start. My, plan is to cover at least 3-4 blogs per week.  I hope you enjoy!
